Summer, Year 1

The rumors from Coatl Swamp are true. The children of Rimtursar have awoken and come now for our blood.

Our militia hit the giants like a wave, and like a bolder in the ocean they were unmoved.

Our heavy spears fared no better, failing to fell a single brute.

A general retreat was sounded and the brave archer corps sacrificed themselves so that we might live.

We must abandon our homes and livelihoods, nothing remains here but misery and the boots of conquerors.

Some OOC chat about the miniatures used, which will probably be a regular thing after making a roleplayed post. I don't think this will break the RP only rules if I limit the discussion to the minis or other technical aspects and stay away from discussing anything in game.


First off: scale. This project is set in 15mm, roughly half the size of a Space Marine from Games Workshop. 15mm is cheap, easy for fielding large armies, and because it's the most used scale for historical gaming, pretty much every real world army throughout history has been represented by one manufacturer or another, great for mimicking Dominions on the gaming table. There's also the benefit that the "standard" sized 25-28mm figs work great as giants next to a 15mm human.

• 25mm Dragon by Ral Partha from the '80s, size 6. 

• 15mm Neter of Chaos by Magister Militium, sold as "Statue of Anubis" size 6. 

• 15mm Sphinx by 15mm.co.uk, supposed to be size 6, but really feels more like 5.

•  28mm Bloodbowl chaos warrior (basically a Warhammer dude without weapons) by Games Workshop, he's here for reference as size 4.

• 25mm Bride in Waiting by Grenadier, size 3 but maybe a touch on the large side.

• Equites by Minifigs, size 3.

• Triarii by Minifigs, size 2.

As for the miniatures in the first post:

• The longdead, shaman and wolves are 15mm from splintered light

• The jotuns are really 25mm huscarls from Old Glory

• The werewolves are 28mm Bloodbowl players by Games Workshop

•  The Gygja (she's hiding behind the longdead) is a 25mm crone from Lance and Laser

• Don't recall 100% where the Neifel came from, but think he might be a giant type character from Reaper in 25mm scale.

• The mysterious guy on the hill in the last shot will remain a mystery
